How to Mentor Someone who doesn’t know what their career goals should be

Image
“Career Goal” is a common word we hear in corporates often. Either you hear from management or supervisors. We ask our teams “Tell me about your career goals.” Most often we see quiet faces on this question by our team members. In these cases, how do you intend to give support and mentor. Before offering solutions, we’d like to propose a radical diagnosis: The problem lives not in a lack of career opportunities, but rather in the very concept of a career. We are suffering from the career myth — most of them not even understand the real meaning or outcome of career goal or career growth. Few consider career goal reflects the money you are getting, few consider the designation you hold, few may consider working in a other country and location. May be all of them right from their view, but how many of them understand how to reach there ? Consider the etymology of the word “career.” It comes from the 16th-century word for “road.” The progress and actions taken by a person throughout a lif...

AgriTech: The conjuncture in need!

Image
The Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Budget 2022, laid great stress on digitizing and technology orientation for the agriculture sector, but why?? According to a survey, in 2020, the total share of agriculture in world GDP went up to 10-11% for 146 countries! The contribution of the agriculture sector has been only growing! Let’s talk about India! Did you know that approximately 70% of the rural population depends on agricultural activity to run their household and contributes a margin of 17-18% to the GDP? Technology has seeped everywhere, even to the remotest of the fields, and hence farming too! Technology has a massive impact on the...

The 21-days  lockdown implemented by the government to curb the spread of coronavirus had a huge impact on different sectors of the economy, especially agriculture. Economists have forecasted serious disruptions in India’s rural economy. Agriculture contributes around 17 percent in the GDP growth of the country and is responsible for the income and livelihood of more than 55 percent of the Indian population.  This is a ‘never-seen-before’ situation for the agri sector as it is already reeling under distress due to shrinking farmer landholdings, low support prices, poor income and erratic climatic conditions. This is a much greater challenge that has come its way. The sudden lockdown has raised serious challenges for agriculture and its allied sectors. Though the government announced several exemptions for agricultural activities and safety measures for the farm operations, the unprecedented lockdown created panic among migrants and agri-workers as they immediately left f...
